Tintype Portrait Sessions

Please note each session could take up to 30-45 minutes. I always like to shoot a test plate before I have you pose to make sure my chemicals and the lighting are all working right. This process has a mind of its own at times.

Backyard Special

This deal includes coming to my personal backyard for your portrait. My backyard includes beautiful large hydrangea bushes with lots of shade. There’s no minimum tintype purchase required for this kind of session.

$100 per 4x5 tintype for the first 3, $75 per tintype after that.

$150 per 8x10 tintypes for the first 3, $100 per tintype after that.

These sessions usually take about an hour depending on number of images we are making.

Darkroom Comes To You

In this bundle I come to your backyard! Or another outdoor location that is okay with having a darkroom on site. This is the responsibility of the party booking. A travel fee is put in place if you are more than 15 miles away from my studio. The fee is dependent on distance. As always please remember this is a natural light process for these sessions.

You choose from 4, 4x5 tintypes or 2, 8x10 tintypes for $350.

You may choose to purchase more plates day during your session or before hand. $50 per 4x5 after the first 4, $75 per 8x10 after the first 2

Please allow for up to 2 hours for these sessions or longer depending on how many images we are making.

Vending

Things to note about this process for the best image possible:

You are requites to stay as still as possible. Breathing and blinking your eyes is okay, but the stiller you are the better the image will turn out.

This process might not be suitable for young children or pets. You could be sitting still for up to 10 seconds. We are also using harsh chemicals that would be toxic to anyone if not handled properly.

Blue Light coated/UV resistant glasses will look like SUNGLASSES. Freckles and sunspots will likely be intensified. Tattoos may disappear.

The color spectrum works different with collodion. This is a blue light sensitive process, blues will look lighter and reds will look darker. Textures and patterns look great in this process; lace, silk, camouflage, stripes.

This process sometimes has a mind of it’s own. Spots, fogging and contamination may happen. These are things don’t always happen but can’t be avoided when they happen. The best thing to do is to avoid this is to pray to the Wet Plate Gods.
